Path

Whenever we travel, we are at ease if we know clearly our route and destination. We feel secure that we will  be able to go from point A to point B without much hassle. On the other hand, it's very troubling if we don't know exactly where we are going, what building is the new office, or what road do we take a right turn. We may feel the same way in life.

When we were little kids, there's not much of a path. It's as if our lives are a big playground where we just loiter and have fun. As we grow up and start going to school, society lights up a path for us that we must tread. Year after year, we learn and we grow. Afterwards, when the hype of graduation has ended, we are suddenly on our own.

Some of us are able to light up our paths and step out of the confines of school the minute that toga was put down. However, there are also those who have to go back to that big playground and see what path is really for them. It can take from a few days to several years to find. While sometimes, we die without even reaching what we want, meddling with different paths that seem to point to something that we are not.

Are we merely blades of grass that get swept wherever the wind blows us? Do we have to be confined by what society dictates we can and can't do? Perhaps we can be like mushrooms. They grow where they want to grow, regardless of the environment and circumstance.

A path is not always there for us to find. Sometimes, we need to create our own path in order to be who we want ourselves to be. A mushroom doesn't need cultivated land to grow. How much more capable are we, humans, than mushrooms? We definitely don't need the most favorable situations to flourish and succeed. We simply have to decide on what we want, and make a path to get there.
