Hobby

Playing basketball, shopping, playing video games, dancing, collecting stamps, cosplaying, reading books, playing the guitar, watching the stock market, and many other things. Just listing all types of hobbies would probably make a 50-page book. This variety tells us one thing: hobbies are important in our lives.

Whether it is to relieve stress, to be entertained, or simply to let time pass, we almost always turn to our hobbies to do the job. The interesting thing is that each of us has our own set or combination of hobbies, which somehow makes us more different from one another. Two people may both like watching movies, but one of them might prefer playing golf while the other would prefer playing soccer. Our set of hobbies make us distinct and unique.

On the other hand, they also allow us to connect with other people. People who like to watch anime would never have a dull moment when it comes to talking about favorite characters or episodes. Cosplaying gathers hundreds of people in a single venue and allows them to interact and be friends with one another. Friends who are musically inclined would always find time to jam in someone's house.

A hobby, therefore, is yet another paradox of a human's intricate life. It makes us unique, but at the same time, it makes us similar to other people. Cherish these hobbies for they are essential to our lives. They make up our identity as an individual, yet they also build our identity that is linked with other people. Finally, respect the hobby of another, regardless of how weird or different it is. Not accepting it means not accepting a big part of that person.
